Osteup (https://osteup.com) values your privacy. When you browse our website, read articles, or participate in discussions, we collect only the minimal data necessary and never sell or share personal data with third parties for commercial advertising purposes.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only the information required to provide core community and member features:

  • Direct Registration: Full name, email address, and securely salted/hashed passwords (bcrypt).
  • OAuth Logins (Google / Facebook): Public profile name, profile avatar URL, unique provider User ID, and email address if granted.
  • Comments and Interactions: Author display name, comment content, timestamp, and post likes.
  • Technical Logs: IP addresses and browser User-Agent strings used exclusively for anti-spam detection and infrastructure security.

3. How We Use Your Information

Your data is securely stored on Osteup infrastructure and used strictly for legitimate operational purposes:

  • Maintaining member authentication sessions for writing and managing comments.
  • Displaying your name and avatar beside comments you publish on articles.
  • Sending essential security notices or password reset verification links.
  • Preventing automated spam, security breaches, and fraudulent abuse.

4. Third-Party OAuth (Facebook & Google Login)

When you choose to sign in with Google or Facebook, we only receive the standard public profile fields authorized by you via standard OAuth 2.0 protocol. We DO NOT have access to your private social media passwords, friend lists, direct messages, or private activities.

5. Facebook User Data Deletion Instructions

In compliance with Facebook Platform Data Protection policies and GDPR regulations, you have the full right to delete or request the deletion of all personal data associated with your Facebook Login. You may choose either of the following methods:

Method 1: Remove App and Data Directly on Facebook (Automated)

  1. Log in to your personal Facebook account.
  2. Click your profile picture in the top-right corner ➔ Settings & Privacy ➔ Settings.
  3. In the left navigation menu, scroll down and click Apps and Websites.
  4. Locate Osteup in the active apps list.
  5. Click Remove, check the confirmation box to delete related activity data, and confirm.

Method 2: Submit a Data Deletion Request to Osteup (Manual)

  1. Send an email to our official support address: [email protected]
  2. Subject: [Facebook Data Deletion Request] - Include your Facebook display name or User ID.
  3. The Osteup administration team will permanently erase your member profile, linked identifiers, and comments within 24 to 48 business hours and confirm via reply email.
