SetEdit (Settings Database Editor) is a low-level configuration utility that interacts directly with the Android settings database. By combining it with the SetEdit FeaturePack add-on, users can modify parameters inside the System Table to force GPU hardware rendering, minimize input latency, and optimize TCP network buffers for competitive mobile gaming.

These optimizations can be applied on virtually any Android device running Android 8 through Android 13/14 without requiring root access for parameters residing within the System Table.

Crucial Rule: All variables listed below belong inside the System Table. Do not uninstall the SetEdit app after applying tweaks, as removal may cause the Android framework to reset variables back to system defaults upon rebooting.

Table 1: Hardware GPU Acceleration & Render Offloading

These parameters offload UI rendering and gaming compositing tasks directly to the GPU chipset, reducing CPU overhead and eliminating frame drops:

Variable Key Value Technical Function
debug.composition.type gpu Forces SurfaceFlinger to utilize hardware GPU composition instead of CPU fallback
video.accelerate.hw 1 Enables hardware acceleration pipeline for video decoders and animations
debug.sf.hw 1 Activates hardware-based screen compositing
debug.egl.hw 1 Enforces hardware acceleration for EGL and OpenGL graphics libraries
debug.performance.tuning 1 Flags kernel and graphics scheduler for peak performance tuning
hw3d.force 1 Forces all 3D pipeline instructions through the dedicated GPU cores

Table 2: Boot Speed & Touch Input Latency

Streamlines system startup by skipping lengthy animation frames and synchronizes display touch polling rates:

Variable Key Value Technical Function
windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec 100 Maintains consistent touch-event handling capped at 100 events/sec
debug.sf.nobootanimation 1 Bypasses boot animations entirely to accelerate system startup time
boot.fps 25 Caps boot logo frame rendering rate at 25 FPS to save battery and RAM
ro.config.hw_quickpoweron true Enables rapid hardware power-on state if supported by the motherboard
ring.delay 0 Eliminates audio output delay when receiving incoming phone calls

Table 3: TCP Buffer Scaling & Wi-Fi Scanning Intervals

Configures larger TCP transmission buffer ceilings to smooth out packet jitter during online multiplayer matches while increasing Wi-Fi polling delays when connected:

Variable Key Value Technical Function
wifi.supplicant_scan_interval 120 Extends background Wi-Fi scan cycles to 120 seconds, saving CPU cycles
net.tcp.buffersize.default 4096,87380,256960,4096,16384,256960 Expands standard TCP send/receive buffer boundaries
net.tcp.buffersize.wifi 4096,87380,256960,4096,16384,256960 Customizes optimal TCP window sizing for Wi-Fi high-throughput connections
net.ipv4.tcp_window_scaling 1 Enables TCP window scaling (RFC 1323) to prevent packet loss under heavy load

Step-by-Step Guide: Adding Tweaks in SetEdit

  1. Launch the SetEdit application on your Android device.
  2. Check the top-right dropdown menu and verify that System Table is selected.
  3. Tap the + Add new setting entry at the very top.
  4. Enter the exact Key Name (e.g., debug.composition.type), then tap Save changes.
  5. In the following dialog, input the exact Setting Value (e.g., gpu), then tap Save changes.
  6. Repeat for any additional tweaks you wish to enable.
  7. Reboot your phone once finished so the kernel and graphics drivers initialize with the new parameters.
